This Special Release American Single Malt is a marriage of 6-year-old single malt that was finished in a first-fill sweet amontillado sherry butt with 6-year-old peated malt that was aged in an ex-bourbon barrel.
The name is obviously a play on words, but it’s a nod to one of our most popular past releases that we wanted to revisit and give a little facelift.
The first in a new limited release series where we highlight some of our favorite and unique single malts.
I like to produce big, bold single malts, so this is much more sherry-forward than peat-forward. But the peat definitely makes an appearance on the mid-palate and finish. It was bottled at natural cask strength (118.1 proof), and as always it is non-chill filtered and no color was added.
